On a serious note, my previous post was particularly aimed at the Codex guilds that only recruit Rank 9 / Glad 6 / Codex 3+ people or something like that.
Whats the problem? They need proof that you dont fail, thats the nearest proof they will get without knowing you, rank discrimination in GW? whats new?

Let the nerds have their rank discrimination/guilds because if they don't get a 10 hour win streak every time they enter then they will be furious...

If the high rank teams get long streaks then doesn't that kind of prove that rank discrimination pays off?

nobody cares about ranks, just have good references and guild history

also, people say its hard to get into pvp without rank

what do you expect, when I started PvP, I just played RA all day

If you are just a casual gamer, stick to pve and don't cry about rank discrimination

When I started off PvP, it was tough getting into good groups and guilds but you will eventually get there...

How I (used to) look for teammates in TA (from most to least important characteristics):

1) Check friends list or guild list for people you always want to play with first - also known as regulars (obviously, people you have good synergy and also do other things with, get along and have fun with, and who are one of the best players in general). Best case scenario.

2) Check friends list or guild list for people you know/you know are good/(at least)average and have good manners.

3) Check friend's list, guild list and CA districts for people with average to good skill level, but often with bad manners or just having a dislike for them. Usually you do this if you just want to play and not lose to the wrong people, but dont have many players available.

4) Check the districts only, because everyone on friend's list or in the guild is either busy or offline - usually its a short run pug group that might very likely lose to players you don't want to lose to. Worst case scenario, better not play at all unless really desperate.

I'm generally mistrustful towards ranks and only take them into account in the last option. Before that, I usually invite according to guild tags (cape leechers do not count there).
Knowing the players>knowing the guild>not knowing either.

Am (Was) i being discriminatory?

Very much so, those who worked hard to earn their titles RTL'ing in RA, exploring the fringes of Tyria, etc. deserve a fair chance. There is a vast PvP elitist conspiracy to keep the little guys down and frankly it sickens me. /s

There is no way for 'the little guys' to prove their skill besides showing it.

Why take someone with little to no experience when you can take someone with more experience?

No one is stopping a group of 'little guys' to become 'big guys' apart from their attitude.

I assumed you weren't trolling, if you were, ignore this post.

I was joking, but I do agree that newer players tend to cry and quit rather than trying to improve.

I dont mind the Codex concept, I just wish they'd introduced it into the two areas individually rather than replacing with a TA2.... Most if not all my friends no longer play and so making a team that way is not available.

People say HB was broken, which I agree to a certain extent, but the only "major" issue was RR day so all they needed to do was to remove HB from the ZQ rotation.

I think keeping a TA codex and an HB Codex would have kept some variety in the game thats been lost now.

Anyway, On topic, having been away since they announced HB was going, my experience is that its rank dominated and yes, the people trying to get into it by pugging, will get quickly disenchanted after the xxx loss to a ranked guild team waiting for more people to come on to gvg or whatever.

I hope the people playing are enjoying it though

Would you say that codex arena has more or less activity than the pvp section of this forum?

And how long did it take you to come up with the answer?

Well my first impression was that not alot of people played codex arena. I only did it 3 times or so myself. Some people said they didn't like it, but I don't have anything against it. Because of codex the builds are more balanced I think. Everybody has as much chance to win.
